Many health information exchange (HIE) organizations fail to effectively manage the layers of interdependencies that are inherent to HIE. AIM has served in HIE project management roles for over seven years. AIM directed the implementation of the nation’s first statewide clinical HIE. We have managed the operations of HIEs to support expanded data sources and types, functions and services; all while ensuring that the HIE is responsive to a changing health care environment, providing value to stakeholders and users, and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

Project Management: For HIEs

National standards for data exchange are a critical consideration for HIEs making decisions about technology, services and interoperability across providers, HIEs and federal partners. AIM has been represented on the national HIT Standards Committee and is keenly aware of the HIE standards environment and emerging requirements. We help our clients understand the implications of these standards and their application for local, regional and national interoperability.

Our HIE project management expertise cannot be matched – it is based upon practice, real-world experience and exposure to HIEs across the country with different models, regulatory environments and participants. Our team is nationally known for its successful HIE development and management in both large and small states, rural and urban environments. These skills can be applied to HIEs at all levels of planning, implementation and management. Visit our HIE Expertise page for more information.
